RAHVIN

Born Ared Mosinel, Rahvin was tall and dark, and said to be as handsome as Lanfear was beautiful.

Incredibly proud, Rahvin loved power, and was envious of anyone who held more than him. Much preferring diplomacy over outright attack, Rahvin usually chose to use subtle compulsion and manipulation. He was very strong in the One Power, and almost as strong as Lews Therin.

Rahvin turned to the Shadow because of his thirst for power. Through his manipulations he had several regions surrender without invasion. He was an efficient Governor, but with a lack of attention to detail.

Upon his release from the Bore, he moved to Caemlyn, calling himself Gaebril. When the riots in Caemlyn started (probably by him), he became the leader of the faction supporting Queen Morgase. He put the riots down, and Morgase promoted him to Elaida's old post.

Through the use of Compulsion, he forced Morgase to accept him as her consort, but he had much more trouble maintaining his control over her than he had expected. She managed to break free and run away, leading to rumours of her death. Rahvin soon claimed the throne for himself, as well as the throne of Cairhien. Unfortunately for Morgase, during her Compulsion, she allowed most of the Guards to be replaced by men exclusively loyal to Gaebril, violently alienated several major Houses, and ejected Gareth Bryne from her court, leaving her otherwise benevolent reign as a memory of injustice.

Rahvin had been in an alliance with Sammael, hoping to lead Rand to Illian to be ambushed. When Rand heard of Morgase's death, he raided Caemlyn intent on revenge for Elayne, Morgase's daughter and heir to the throne. Rahvin had fled to Tel'aran'rhiod, but was caught between Nynaeve and Rand. Rand killed Rahvin with balefire, which undid the deaths of Aviendha, Asmodean and Mat.

Moiraine

Moiraine has large, dark eyes and dark hair hanging in ringlets. A delicate gold chain fastened in her hair supports a small, sparkling blue stone in the middle of her forehead. When she was young she was impetuous and hot-tempered, but after years of being Aes Sedai she has learned self-control. Robert Jordan describes her as being about 5' or 5'2". Rand, Mat and Perrin all described her as one of the most beautiful women they had ever seen. Indeed, when Perrin walks in on her wearing nothing but a robe, he is absolutely astonished by how beautiful she is.
[edit] Still A Factor?
Later series events, however, have drawn Moiraine's supposed fate into question. Lanfear, presumed dead as well, has reappeared in the form of Cyndane, whose name means "Last Chance" in the Old Tongue. The Great Lord of the Dark is well-known for resurrecting his favorite followers, but it is not known if this happened to Moiraine; it is possible that she escaped in her own right. Also, one of Egwene al'Vere's Dreamed visions linked Thom Merrilin to Moiraine in some way—specifically, she saw him drawing Moiraine's kesiera from a fire. The romantic tension between Moiraine and Thom has also gone unresolved. Adding fuel to the fire, one of Min Farshaw's viewings suggests that, without Moiraine's help, Rand is doomed to failure. Finally, the contents of her letter to Thom has been revealed in Knife of Dreams: she is alive, but trapped in a tower that has no door, presumably meaning the Tower of Ghenjei. Thom, Mat and series newcomer Noal Charin have vowed to rescue her, but what role she will play in the final book of the series remains to be seen.

Hurray!!!

Elayne Trakand

She is described as exceedingly beautiful, about 5'7", with blue eyes and red-gold hair framing an oval face.

The youngest child and only daughter of Queen Morgase Trakand of Andor, Elayne grew up in the Royal Palace in Caemlyn. She was heir apparent throughout her childhood as only women can hold the Lion Throne of Andor. She is thus known as the Daughter-Heir of Andor and now- since the Knife of Dreams- the Queen, her sign is a golden lily.

Elayne is the first heir of House Trakand in a thousand years to actually be able to channel the One Power with enough strength to become Aes Sedai; she is about as strong as her friends Aviendha and Egwene al'Vere. While at the Tower, she befriended some folk who, by coincidence, knew Rand quite well: his (former) childhood sweetheart Egwene al'Vere, and his village's Wisdom, Nynaeve al'Meara. She also got to know Min Farshaw, a young woman who had met Rand and was in the Tower for "safekeeping" at the time.

Elayne is among the most powerful female channelers of the past thousand years. Aviendha, Egwene al'Vere and Metarra of theSeafolk Windfinders are her equals in the power, while Nynaeve, Alivia, Viendre, Tamela and Sharina are more powerful on the side of the Light. She has also demonstrated an immense degree of talent in the copying of ter'angreal, she has successfully made copies of the twisted ring ter'angreal that Egwene obtained from Verin Sedai, as well as of a'dam, and several other types. She is also credited with devising an a'dam that does not need a connecting leash between the collar and the bracelet. She has also made some original ter'angreal including one which makes the user invisible. In time she may even be able to make copies or originals of angreal or sa'angreal. Her studies into the matter have been waylaid by her pregnancy, however.

Elayne is one of three women who love Rand al'Thor, and is close friends with the other two (Aviendha and Min); the three have agreed to share him, and recently Bonded him as their mutual Warder, partly for the side effect of being able to tell what the other person is feeling. Shortly after that, she and Rand found some time together alone in a room with a bed, almost immediately demonstrating one of the downsides of the Warder bond and leading Birgitte, Min and Aviendha to get blinding drunk as soon as possible. According to Min's visions, Elayne has conceived Rand's fraternal twins (a son and daughter), who will come out "just fine;" because Min's visions are always true, Elayne believes (whether correctly or not) that she cannot come to harm while she is pregnant, and has not flinched from danger since.

It is not known if Elayne is a reincarnation of Ilyena Therin Moerelle, but there have been some hints to that effect, particularly in their similar coloring and first names. It should be noted, however, that known examples of reincarnation do not show that names or physical characteristics are retained. Two of Birgitte's incarnations are named Teadra and Maerion, which gives us three extremely dissimilar names, and Rand's last incarnation is of course named Lews Therin, and the only physical similarity between Rand and Lews Therin is height - their coloring is completely different. Then again, however, there are certainly examples of soul traits, primarily the ability channel, and also the fact that Birgitte is always an archer, and always linked to Gaidal Cain, along with Lews Therin/Rand's stubbornness and nobility, and perhaps height.

She went to Falme (having been tricked into going there by Aes Sedai of the Black Ajah) and then to Tear, where she was sent along with Nynaeve and Egwene to hunt the Black Ajah by then-Amyrlin Siuan Sanche, and was present when Rand drew Callandor and proclaimed himself the Dragon Reborn.

At this point, Elayne finally got her chance to express her feelings for Rand, especially when Egwene renounced him; the two worked it out in advance, though Elayne's part of the conversation did not go quite according to plan. Unfortunately, their time was limited - -soon Rand and Egwene went to Rhuidean, and Elayne and Nynaeve to Tarabon. They traveled by way of a Sea Folk ship, reputedly the fastest ships available, and Elayne quickly discovered how: Sea Folk Windfinders can channel. Elayne promised to keep this secret, as the Sea Folk fear Aes Sedai meddling. Sent by Lan and Rand to look after the two were Juilin Sandar and Thom, whom Elayne eventually recognized from dusty childhood memories as her mother's former lover. She has come to see Thom as a surrogate father, a role he gladly accepts.

In Tarabon they were instrumental in routing the Black Ajah and returning the Panarch Amathera to her office. On the way to Salidar, a bizarre series of events led to Birgitte Silverbow, one of the Heroes of the Horn, being ripped from Tel'aran'rhiod and expelled into the waking world to die. To save her, Elayne bonded Birgitte as her Warder, and the famed archer has been a constant companion since. (It should be noted that the Warder bond between the two women is not the same as the Bond between an Aes Sedai and a male Warder. Many believe that it is because both of them are women, a bonding that has never happened before and is under much scrutiny.) The group arrived in Salidar just in time to receive the brand new Amyrlin Seat, Egwene al'Vere. Egwene made Elayne and Nynaeve full Aes Sedai upon her ascension. Elayne went with Nynaeve, Aviendha and Mat Cauthon to Ebou Dar, and after using the Bowl of the Winds, shepherded a large group of channelers, known as the Kin, to Caemlyn when the Seanchan invaded. She has now secured the Throne following her mother's absence and supposed death; she has also rediscovered the ability to create ter'angreal. For a short time, she also used Mat as an unwilling tutor in cursing and swearing.
